1.	Mr. and Mrs. Neumann are seated at the breakfast-table.	Herr und Frau Neumann sitzen am Frühstückstisch.
2.	Mr. Neumann would like to know where Klaus is.	Herr Neumann möchte wissen, wo Klaus ist.
3.	He has to hurry so that he doesn't miss the bus.	Er muss sich beeilen, damit er den Autobus nicht verpasst.
4.	He just has to comb his hair still and wash his hands.	Er muss sich nur noch kämmen und seine Hände waschen.
5.	Then he looks for his brown shoes.	Dann sucht er seine braunen Schuhe.
6.	Mrs. Neumann tells him that they're at the shoemaker's.	Frau Neumann sagt ihm, dass sie beim Schuster sind.
7.	Klaus can pick them up in the afternoon.	Klaus kann sie nachmittags abholen.
8.	Klaus would like some money, since he has a school outing today.	Klaus möchte gern etwas Geld haben, da er heute einen Schulausflug hat.
9.	Mr. Neumann gives him six marks.	Herr Neumann gibt ihm sechs Mark.
10.	He's supposed to get his hair cut (from it) too before he comes home.	Er soll sich davon auch die Haare schneiden lassen, bevor er nach Hause kommt.
11.	Mrs. Neumann gives him his lunch.	Frau Neumann gibt ihm sein Frühstücksbrot.
12.	Now Klaus has to run quickly however, or else he'll be late.	Jetzt muss Klaus aber schnell laufen, sonst kommt er zu spät.
13.	A little later the Neumanns drive down town together.	Etwas später fahren Neumanns zusammen in die Stadt.
14.	Mrs. Neumann has a good deal to attend to.	Frau Neumann hat eine ganze Menge zu besorgen.
15.	First she has to go to the cleaners.	Zuerst muss sie zur Reinigung gehen.
16.	She wants to have her husband's grey suit cleaned.	Sie will den grauen Anzug ihres Mannes reinigen lassen.
17.	She's supposed to take the blue one along with her to the cleaners too.	Den blauen soll sie auch zur Reinigung mitnehmen.
18.	She'd like to take the shirts to the laundry.	Die Oberhemden möchte sie zur Wäscherei bringen.
19.	At ten o'clock she has to go to the dentist and be at the hairdresser's at twelve.	Um zehn Uhr muss sie zum Zahnarzt gehen und um zwölf beim Frisör sein.
20.	Mr. Neumann asks if he is (supposed) to pick up his wife there.	Herr Neumann fragt, ob er seine Frau dort abholen soll.
21.	Otherwise she can hardly be home before half past one.	Sonst kann sie kaum vor halb zwei zu Hause sein.
22.	She says she'd like him to be there at one.	Sie sagt, er möchte um eins dort sein.
23.	On the way home they have to [go] to the watchmaker's and the pharmacy.	Auf dem Nachhauseweg müssen sie zum Uhrmacher und zur Apotheke.
24.	After lunch Mr. Neumann goes [back] to the office again.	Nach dem Essen fährt Herr Neumann wieder ins Büro.
25.	The secretary says that Dr. Bergmann expects Mr. Neumann at five o'clock for a conference.	Die Sekretärin sagt, dass Dr. Bergmann Herrn Neumann um fünf Uhr zu einer Besprechung erwartet.
26.	It's about the new customs regulations, and Miss Keller gives him all the papers.	Es handelt sich um die neuen Zollbestimmungen und Fräulein Keller gibt ihm alle Unterlagen.
27.	A gentleman from the British Embassy wanted to talk to Mr. Neumann too, but the secretary doesn't know what about.	Ein Herr von der englischen Botschaft wollte Herrn Neumann auch sprechen, aber die Sekretärin weiss nicht, in welcher Angelegenheit.
28.	He's going to call back later.	Er wird später nochmal anrufen.
29.	Then Mr. Neumann dictates two letters to his secretary, one to the Chamber of Commerce and one to the employment office.	Dann diktiert Herr Neumann seiner Sekretärin zwei Briefe, einen an die Handelskammer und einen an das Arbeitsamt.
30.	He gives her an article also, and she is (supposed) to have it translated.	Er gibt ihr auch einen Artikel, und sie soll ihn übersetzen lassen.
31.	A little later the telephone rings, and the secretary answers.	Etwas später klingelt das Telephon und die Sekretärin meldet sich.
32.	Miss Keller tells Mr. Neumann that Mr. Meyer is on the wire.	Fräulein Keller sagt Herrn Neumann, dass Herr Meyer am Apparat ist.
33.	Mr. Neumann tells her (he'd like her) to put him on please and then speaks with his friend.	Herr Neumann sagt ihr, sie möchte bitte umschalten und spricht dann mit seinem Freund.
34.	He says that he's well, except for too much work.	Er sagt, dass es ihm gut geht, – abgesehen von zuviel Arbeit.
35.	Mr. Meyer is pretty well loaded down too right now.	Herr Meyer ist zur Zeit auch ziemlich überlastet.
36.	Then he would like to know if the Neumanns are going to Professor Albers' lecture.	Dann möchte er wissen, ob Neumanns zu dem Vortrag von Professor Albers gehen.
37.	Mr. Neumann says that they are planning it.	Herr Neumann sagt, dass sie es vorhaben.
38.	Unfortunately the Meyers' car is in the shop.	Leider ist das Auto von Meyers in der Reparaturwerkstatt.
39.	They would like to ride in the Neumann's car with them.	Sie möchten gern in Neumanns Wagen mitfahren.
40.	They plan to drive to the lecture together shortly before eight.	Kurz vor acht wollen sie zusammen zum Vortrag fahren.
